iGematria גימטריה app good for
(I wont go into detail of what Gemztriah is since if you got this far youy probably know).
I origially thought that this app was a calculator that you type in a word (I figure out how to ge a hebrew KB settings-general-Keyboard- Intl Keyboard- Hebrew!!) and it gives you the numerical value - but this app goes a few steps further.
1. You can switch between several type of Gematriah (at bash etc.)
2. Best of all - once you type in your word - and it gives you the value it them will show you every place in Chumash where it finds a word (or Pasuk) with the same value. It does not give you the text of the entire Pasuk where it is found. But it give Sefer Perek and Passuk.
Very cool device ... Great if you want to do a Dvar Torah on a word or name - you can look it up on the fly and give you a good direction to work with
I can imagine cool future versions - with other features (reverse etc.)
I received an email about this app and instantly downloaded it as I thought I would be a helpful tool to search for words in the Tanakh. I was right. It seem to be a stable app.
Remember that you will need to go to keyboard in general settings and activate the Hebrew keyboard. Once this is done you will have a globe to the left of the space bar where you can toggle to the Hebrew keyboard.
I thought this would only be a calculator of gematriyah, but I was really pleased with how versatile it is. I typed in a Hebrew phrase and I got back both individual words and whole phrases/sentences from the Bible which had the equivalent value. This is really going to come in handy for speeches at bar mitzvahs and the like!
As the developer, I dont usually write a review on my own app. But as the above reviews were all very positive, I will say that I field tested the app at a Sheva Brachot before making the app available on the App Store. I tried different combinations of the Chosson and Kallahs first names, first names and last names, first names and middle names, At-Bash calculation, etc. Finally, I tried the names exactly as it appeared on the Bentschers that they handed out for Birkat Hamazon, together with At-Bash calculation. The resulting Pasuk match described how both the interior and exterior of the Aron HaKodesh was pure gold. Jackpot! I handed the iPhone to the Chosson and his father and they were both visibly happy to see that Pasuk matching the names. They called over others to show it to. A real Kiyum of Mesameach Chosson VKallah.
I Love this app, its great for the math wiz whos interested in finding the hidden meanings between words and how they are connected, and even for whoever just wants to get a numerical value.
TO THE DEVELOPERS:
Could you please also add English definitions of the word matches? This would be so helpful. Otherwise wonderful app.
I like how youve added extra calculation methods besides the standard. Thanks!
